Sound of Cymru: Welsh Artists at LOOPFEST

Croeso i LOOPFEST — yn falch o groesawu artistiaid o Gymru.

Sat right on the England/Wales border, Shrewsbury has always had strong links with Welsh music, but it felt like LOOPFEST hadn’t fully reflected that in its line-up.

For 2026, that’s starting to change.

This year’s line-up brings a stronger Welsh presence to the festival, with artists from across Cymru performing on stages right across the town.

Here’s just some of the Welsh acts you can catch at LOOPFEST this year.

Panic Shack

Saturday 2nd May 2026 · 21:30 · Shrewsbury Castle

Panic Shack bring their sharp, joyful chaos back to Shrewsbury for a set that’s already one of the most talked-about moments of the weekend.

Melin Melyn

Saturday 2nd May 2026 · 20:00 · Shrewsbury Castle

Melin Melyn blend jangly hooks, surfy grooves and offbeat storytelling into something gloriously imaginative.

Trampolene

Sunday 3rd May 2026 · 20:00 · Shrewsbury Castle

Firecracker indie rock laced with sharp poetry and ragged charisma. Unfiltered, chaotic in the best way, and utterly magnetic live.

COWBOIS RHOS BOTWNNOG

Sunday 3rd May 2026 · 18:20 · Theatre Severn

Tender Welsh folk-rock with gorgeous harmonies, understated charm and a real sense of place. Cowbois Rhos Botwnnog weave poetic songwriting with gentle grooves and rich, melodic warmth.

The Gentle Good

Saturday 2nd May 2026 · 16:00 · Theatre Severn (solo) & 19:20 · St. Mary’s Church (band)

Intricate guitar work and warm vocals with a rootsy, acoustic sensibility that draws on traditional Welsh song and modern folk textures.

Cartoon Violence

Sunday 3rd May 2026 · 19:00 · The Hive

The Bosstones (ska overlords) described them as ‘Unbelievable!’ Well, we believe them. A righteous fury of punky thrills and two tone bounciness.

National Milk Bar

Saturday 2nd May 2026 · 14:00 · HMV

80s-influenced, shimmering keyboard riffs and electro drums bring to mind The Human League produced by Erasure. Get the lycra out and let’s pretend the 90s never happened.

Luned Elwyn

Sunday 3rd May 2026 · 15:20 · INTune Radio

Luned Elwyn brings modern Welsh folk into the room with warmth, clarity and quiet power. Blending traditional roots with contemporary songwriting, her music carries a strong sense of place – intimate, melodic and deeply felt.

Captain Accident and The Disasters

Saturday 2nd May 2026 · 15:40 · The Quarry

Using two tone as a building block, our beloved Captain and his accidents fashion themselves a unique live show that will have you hollering in the aisles and dancing like you’ve already knocked back two pints of home grown scrumpy.
